POLITICAL SCIENCE POLICY ON ADVISING
Welcome to Political Science. As a student at Oregon State University majoring in Political Science, you should consult the following materials when developing your program of study:
- Oregon State University Bulletin:General Catalog PLEASE NOTE: The schedule of classes is not always current. Consult the Political Science Home Page at http://www.oregonstate.edu/cla/polisci/
- CLA Guide to Graduation
- MyDegrees available through your online student account. PLEASE NOTE: MyDegrees is a great tool to track students’ academic progress, but should be used for information purposes only as it is unable to process some overrides and transfers. The final determination of program completion can only occur with a complete audit from both the Political Science and College of Liberal Arts advising teams.
Review the above materials carefully before meeting with an advisor, they contain answers to many of your questions. For general information regarding requirements and scheduling, please check our web site. This is designed to provide information about requirements, scheduling classes, and audits of credit. If you need more detailed information, or wish to discuss career choices, graduate school options, or particular courses, please contact the Political Science office staff to make an appointment with the appropriate faculty member.
Each student should be aware of requirements of the University, the College of Liberal Arts, and Political Science. It is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to see that ALL THREE sets of requirements are satisfied. Political Science majors may not take any Political Science courses to satisfy either Baccalaureate Core or the College of Liberal Arts Core requirements. You may meet with College of Liberal Arts advisors in Room 213 Gilkey to discuss the Baccalaureate and College of Liberal Arts requirements.
POLITICAL SCIENCE POLICY ON ADVISING
It is suggested that you meet with a faculty advisor when you elect Political Science as your major and frequently thereafter to gain an understanding of requirements and to answer your questions. As a Political Science major, you are required to meet with your advisor each Spring prior to Fall registration to receive advising and a new registration PIN number. GRADUATING SENIORS (students with 135 or more hours) MUST MEET WITH YOUR FACULTY ADVISOR TO COMPLETE A PRE-GRADUATION AUDIT NO LATER THAN WEEK 8 OF THE TERM IN WHICH YOU WISH TO GRADUATE.
NOTE: Failure to complete a pre-graduation audit with your advisor may result in a delay of your graduation.
Career Counseling is available. All faculty are available for career counseling in their respective areas of expertise.
