Oregon State’s new low brass teacher is an active trombone and euphonium performer and instructor. Originally from Oregon, he recently moved from New York City where he lived and worked as a musician and private teacher. Henniger started his musical career studying at Indiana University and later at Manhattan School of Music where he completed his masters in orchestral performance.

While in New York, Henniger studied and performed with members of the New York Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He also worked with many other orchestras in New York and New Jersey, including the Di Cappo Opera, Imperial Brass, and the Park Avenue Chamber Orchestra. In doing so Henry worked with some of the finest conductors of our time and also played in Alice Tully, Avery Fisher, and Carnegie Hall.

Currently, Henry can be heard with the Eugene Symphony where he is serving a one year position as Principal Trombone as well as freelancing throughout the Portland area. Also, this year Henry will start teaching at Linfield college as their new low brass instructor. Henry’s teachers have included Scott Hartman, Carl Lenthe, David Finlayson, Toby Hanks, Per Brevig and Joseph Alessi.
