Richard Poppino, baritone, is Director of Vocal Studies at Oregon State
University. He has also taught on the voice faculties of Lewis and Clark College,
Portland State University, and Southern Methodist University. As a soloist he has
appeared with the Portland Opera, Seattle Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Oregon Symphony,
Oregon Repertory Singers, Columbia Symphony, Dallas Bach Society, Houston Chamber
Ensemble, Fort Worth Symphony and the Peter Britt Music Festival. He has also given
solo recitals throughout the United States. Poppino has toured as a soloist with the
OSU Chamber Choir in the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany and with OSU’s Bella
Voce Choir in Denmark, Finland, and Estonia.
In 2003 and 2004 he presented solo recitals at the Atelier de la Main d’Or in Paris. He has appeared in Opera Theater Corvallis productions of The Coffee Cantata, Die Fledermaus, Trouble in Tahiti and Gianni Schicchi, in addition to serving as the producer for Gianni Schicchi, Albert Herring, The Fowl Opera Trilogy, and Sleeping Beauty. Poppino holds a bachelor of music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a master’s degree from Southern Methodist University.
