Performances


Janet Hackett teaches voice at Oregon State University. A native Oregonian, Ms. Hackett lived in Illinois after receiving a Bachelor of Music at Northwestern University School of Music where she studied with Kathleen Kaun. She earned a Master of Music at Eastman School of Music, studying with Rita Shane, then studied with Barbara Pearson in Chicago. Before coming to OSU, she was an active performer in the Chicago area. As a concert soloist, her performances included

  • Vaughn Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem with Dr. Anne Heider
  • Faure Requiem with the Metropolis Chamber Players
  • Magnificat from Mozart's Vesperes Solennes with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Carlos Kolmar
  • Handel's Messiah conducted by Roger Bingaman
  • Muero porque no Muero by Menotti
  • Mozart's Missa Brevis in C and numerous other works with the Chamber Singers of Cathedral of the Holy Name.

Ms. Hackett was also featured regularly as a soloist with the Fleur de Lys Chorale. Ms. Hackett has recorded excerpts from Poulenc's Mass in a minor on a compact disc entitled Music of Consolation with the Chamber Singers of Cathedral of the Holy Name (private release, 1998). Her opera credits include work with Bowen Park Opera, The Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, The Savoy-Aires, Opera San Benedetto, and the Eastman Opera Theater.

Here she performs Seche Leider, Opus 103, by Ludwig Spohr. The movements are Sei still mein Herz, Zwiegesang, Sehnsucht, Wiegenlied,

Das heimliche Lied, and Wach Auf. The composition features Lisa Taylor on clarinet and Rebecca Jeffers on piano.
