Music students at OSU join a vibrant and nurturing community. Through
small class sizes, students have the advantage of working closely with
their music professors while studying within the larger context of a
major research university. Students
and professors interact on a daily basis, and the friendships
formed in the department often prove to be lifelong.
"Conducting is a funny thing. In some ways, you're a performer, even though you're not making the music. You're also a leader, drawing the performance out of the musicians. I can always go to Dr. Z and ask him about conducting gestures or techniques I've been working on. And through singing in the Chamber Choir, I've seen him put into practice what he teaches." --Julie Cherry, M.A.T., '09; B.A. '08
