Kraft Choral Composition

Established in 2008, the Kraft Choral Composition Challenge is named for Corvallis resident and long-time friend of the OSU music department, Rose Kraft, who graduated from OSU in 1940 and spent her career teaching high school and middle school home economics and social studies in the Corvallis school district. During her time at OSU, Kraft played in the orchestra and sang in the Madrigal Club, a women's choral group. Throughout the years, Kraft and her husband, Walter Kraft, a former chairman of modern languages at OSU and German professor (now deceased), have attended concerts and supported the OSU music ensembles. In addition to supporting the Kraft Choral Competition Challenge, the Kraft scholarship fund supports scholarships for students aspiring for careers in choral music education.
