WelcomeAs a member of the 2011 Group of New Faculty Hires, you are a product of change and opportunity. Our college has been re-organizing departments and programs, sharpening our focus on student engagement, trans-disciplinary teaching and scholarship, internationalization and global learning, and innovative programs that better serve our state, the nation and beyond. As we continue to transition into our new School structure, we want to help you become more familiar with our college and university culture. At the same time, we want to direct you to various university resources, to help you integrate into our community. In order to help you, we have developed a faculty mentoring program intended to offer guidance and support from our more experienced faculty members. We realize that the demands on faculty in scholarship, teaching, and service are significant, and we are committed to your professional growth and advancement. Research has supported the importance of mentoring for academic and career satisfaction and achievement. Research reports that mentors also gain a variety of tangible and intangible benefits from the mentoring process. Our faculty mentoring program consists of a combination of university-wide, college-level, and unit activities designed to guide you through various stages of your career here at OSU. This website is a starting point for you to begin connecting with important campus resources, and events. Your School Director and colleagues will be your most important resources on campus this first year. The Dean’s office will also be pleased to help you in whatever way we can. This is a significant moment at OSU, as the university welcomes more than 100 new faculty members to its ranks!
