Pre-Elementary Education

Oregon State University boasts a diverse pre-education program, which has been carefully designed to prepare students for admission into a post-graduate teacher licensing program. Although teacher licensing programs accept students from a variety of majors, including Art, English, Ethnic Studies, History, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish, or Speech Communication, elementary classroom teachers need to be generalists with a broad knowledge of subject matter. Therefore, for those students interested in pursuing a career in elementary education, an interdisciplinary degree in Liberal Studies is strongly recommended.

Students in the Liberal Studies Pre-Education Major have their choice of six different areas in which to focus their studies:
