Erlinda Gonzales-Berry was Chair of the Ethnic Studies Department at Oregon State University for ten years, retiring in December 2007. Prior to arriving at OSU she was a professor of Spanish and Chicano/Latino Culture and Literatures at the University of New Mexico, where she also served as chair of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. She has also held positions at Earlham College and New Mexico State University. Professor Gonzales-Berry has published extensively on Chicano and Nuevomexicano literature and culture and her current research interest is immigration from Mexico to the U.S. She has served on the Board of the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities, the MLA Executive board of American Departments of Foreign Languages, the MLA Advisory Board on the Languages & Literatures of America, the National Advisory Board of the U.S. Latino Literary Heritage Project.
