The College of Liberal Arts has a long tradition of excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. With over 200 faculty members in thirteen departments and in related interdisciplinary degree and certificate programs, the College enrolls over 3,000 majors.
The College includes the Departments of Anthropology, Art, Economics, English, Ethnic Studies, Foreign Languages and Literatures, History, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and Speech Communication. Interdisciplinary undergraduate degree programs include American Studies and Liberal Studies. Certificate programs are offered in Women Studies, Language and Culture, Latin American Affairs, New Media Communications, Peace Studies and Russian Studies. An undergraduate discipline-based concurrent degree in International Studies is also available. The College supports the Corvallis-OSU Symphony, the University Theatre, the OSU Marching Band, the Visiting Writers Series and numerous performing arts groups and several art galleries. The Liberal Studies degree is offered on campus, on the OSU Cascades campus in Bend, and through Ecampus.
CLA offers masters degrees in Public Policy, Applied Ethics, Creative Writing, Applied Anthropology, Economics, English, Hispanic Studies and History of Science, Ph.D.s in Applied Anthropology, Economics and History of Science, and most departments participate in the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies degree.
