College of Liberal Arts

Make a Gift

Thank you for your interest in supporting students and faculty in Liberal Studies. Liberal Studies is one of the largest majors in the College of Liberal Arts and one of the five most popular majors at OSU. Your gifts support special awards and programs for creative students who have organized their plan of study around a special topic or theme.

Contribute to the Liberal Studies Scholarship and Award Fund

Liberal Studies continues to improve the scholastic standing of its students. The purpose of student scholarships and awards is to attract and retain high-achieving students. The goal is to have ten $1,000 to $2,500 scholarships and awards for Pre-Elementary Education, Liberal Studies, Liberal Studies distance, and Aerospace Leadership students each year.

Support an Internship Stipend

Students are forced to choose between gainful summer employment and a career-directed educational experience that can make quick entrance into their selected profession possible. Internships give students a significant experiential learning opportunity. Unfortunately, many of the most prestigious internship positions in government, nonprofit organizations, news and communications, education and international work are unpaid. Stipends help students gain access to internships and often provide added labor for worthwhile public programs. The goal is to offer ten $2,000 to $5,000 public service/service learning internships each year.

Liberal Studies students are draw from coursework from all of the departments in CLA. Because their departmental relationships are often transitory there is a need for students to find mentors in departments in support of their field of study.

Mentorships allow students and faculty to work together on research projects and help the student connect to faculty members while continuing their interdisciplinary pursuits. Faculty can assist students to assess graduate school and work opportunities. The goal is to fund ten student stipends at $1,000 and ten corresponding faculty stipends at $1,000 each year. Faculty will mentor students during their junior and senior years.

Support the CLA Ambassadors

CLA Ambassadors are the college's student leaders. Ambassadors reach out to prospective and new students and serve as role models for current students. They organize promotional and marketing events and work with the CLA Advisory Council. Our goal is to raise a $20,000 fund for student stipends, ambassador shirts and jackets, special events, and meeting and conference travel and expenses.
