Masters in Applied Anthropology
The department serves approximately 40 graduate students at the MA level. This program of study provides general background in all four sub-fields of anthropology as well as specialized courses in areas such as:
- American Indians - Past and Present
- Biocultural Medical Anthropology
- Cultural Resource Management
- Globalization/Localization
- Historic Archaeology
- Language and Cross-Cultural Communication
- Natural Resources and Communities
The basic philosophical premise of the department is that anthropology has a unique and valuable perspective not only for personal enrichment but also for addressing pressing social, economic and policy issues.
Required Documents for Admission
- OSU Application form
- All university transcripts should be sent to OSU Admissions and a duplicate copy to the Department of Anthropology.
- Three letters of reference written on letterhead (at least two should be from university professors closely associated with the student's work. One can be from a professional in the field of your career interest.)
- Completion and submission of GRE scores
- Statement of interest of no more than 1000 words as it relates to an area of concentration.
- TOEFL (for international students only)
