Lisa Leimar Price joined Anthropology within the School of Language, Culture, and Society at OSU in the fall of 2011 as Professor.  She previously worked in the Dept. of Social Sciences at Wageningen University as an Associate Professor in the Netherlands and at the International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines as a Senior Scientist. Dr. Price has undertaken and supervised strategic farm level research throughout Asia and Africa.

Dr. Price specializes in the study of food and culture and equity, particularly gender in agriculture, agrobiodiversity, ethnobiology (indigenous and folk knowledge surrounding farming in particular), and natural resource management. Most recently She has managed a large pan-African project on the impact of HIV and AIDS on rural food and livelihood security for women and orphaned children in rural areas. She continues to conduct research on wild food plants among agriculturalists and manages an interdisciplinary project on their contribution to household well-being in NE Thailand.
