Alpha Kappa Alpha
Alpha Kappa Alpha’s mission is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of “Service to All Mankind.”
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded January 15, 1908 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. as the first Black Greek letter organization founded by Black women. Alpha Kappa Alpha women can be distinguished by wearing pink and green.Women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. dedicate our services to the awareness, advocacy, and action of various human rights causes. Our national initiatives include providing leadership development and enhanced academic preparation to Emerging Young Leaders; encouraging personal fitness and Healthy life styles; helping to end Global Poverty, hunger, preserve the environment and empower women; to provide Economic Security to women by building wealth and supporting female-owned businesses; and addressing Social Justice and Human Rights issues such as gender inequality, voter empowerment, and domestic violence.
Established April 30, 2000, we are a joint Chapter between University of Oregon and Oregon State University
Rosa Parks, Coretta Scott King, Alicia Keys, Mae Jenson,
Hosts Annual Black Heritage Fashion Show in February with monies earned donated, hosts Annual Coat Drive where items received are donated to Jackson Youth Shelter, hosts Skee Week, various educational programs.
