Students in Service: Americorps

Get involved with Students in Service, a student part-time AmeriCorps program.

What is Students in Service (SIS)?

The Students in Service program is a part-time AmeriCorps program that encourages and supports college and university students to enroll as part-time AmeriCorps members who provide valuable service in their communities. SIS members make a difference in their communities, gain valuable civic and workforce skills, and upon completion of their term of service, earn an education award.

By participating in the Students in Service program, the member becomes a part of the AmeriCorps national service network that improves lives and strengthens communities throughout the United States of America.

Students in Service Program Goals:

  1. To increase the number of college student volunteers and service learners
  2. To help disadvantaged youth succeed and advance along the academic continuum
  3. To develop members' and students' civic skills, attitudes, and habits
  4. To improve members' and students' workforce skills
  5. To engage Veterans (college students at participating campuses) in serving their local communities
  6. To build organizational capacity at local non-profit, government, and educational institutions

Benefits:

Earn a $1,175 education award for contributing 300 hours of service to your community

NOTE: Members must complete at least 80% of their service hours in direct service to their local community.
