Philanthropy and Giving

There are many ways to engage in one's community. Direct volunteer service is not the only way to become a civically engaged citizen. For example, philanthropy and activism are some ways in which to get involved and help create change in a community.

Philanthropy allows one to donate money, foods, household items, and/or time to raise money or in-kind donations to help meet community needs.

We have many opportunities for philanthropy and activism. If you would like to be informed of upcoming opportunities, please join our listserve, like us on Facebook, and/or follow us on Twitter! Below is a list of philanthropic community partners and organizations. We encourage you to contact them to find out about how you can get involved!

Relay for Life Teams

When:             Now until May

Where:            Realy for Life will take place in the MU Quad in May 2014

Description:    At Relay For Life events, communities across the globe come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. The funds you raise truly make a difference in the fight against cancer – just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year!

The OSU Relay for Life organization would love volunteers to join and create a Relay for Life team. Each team will create fundraisers of their choice to donate to Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. May 17th-18th is the Relay event during which we will camp out in the MU Quad for a night of relaying against cancer, entertainment, food, games, prizes, and more. It's an amazing opportunity and we hope you create a team with your friends, peers or classmates!
