Earth Day

2014 EARTH DAY SERVICE PROJECTS TAKE PLACE ON APRIL 26, 2014. BE ROOTED IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

Registration is now open for all Earth Day Projects! Click one of the below projects to register. 

The Center for Civic Engagement is sponsoring 6 environmentally focused service projects in recognition of Earth Day 2014. Five projects will be taking place Saturday, April 26, 2014 and 1 project will take place Friday, April 25, 2014  in the afternoon. All projects will leave in the morning but some all day projects are available. As with all of our days of service transportation via Motor Pool vehicles will be provided but we will also be asking if volunteers would be willing to bike to the closer service locations in recognition of Earth Day. Pre-registration is required. Participants will assemble in MU Lounge before leaving for service sites. Snacks and refreshments (including morning coffee) will be provided. Lunch will be provided for the all-day project. Organizations we will be partnering with are listed below. 

-Greenbelt Land Trust (Friday, April 25, 2014)

Time: 1:30pm-5:15pm. Project Description: Blackberry/invasive species clearing. Capacity: 10 volunteers

-SOLVE/Corvallis Parks and Recreation

Time:8:30am-12:15pm. Project Description: Invasive species removal, litter cleanup, planting native plants and trees, and pruning/maintenance. Capacity: 60 volunteers. Bike to site option

-The Wetlands Conservancy at the Oregon Coast

Time: 8:30am-6:30pm. Project Description: Clearing debris from an estuary in Waldport, OR and cutting ivy from trees. Capacity: 11 volunteers

-Albany Parks and Recreation

Time: 8:00am-1:30pm. Project Description: Preparation for Albany parade and assisting in the farmers market after the parade to distribute 150 trees. Capacity: 4 Volunteers

-Produce for the People

Time: 8:15am-12:15pm. Project Description: Moving leaves and compost and other garden work. Capacity: 40 volunteers. Bike to site option. Youth are welcome.

-OSU College Forests

Time: 8:15am-1:15pm. Project Description: Invasive species removal and trail work. Capacity: 20 volunteers

96 students spent 288 hours spreading gravel, distributing compost, reomving invasive species, cleaning the beach, and pulling weeds with five community organizations!
