JOIN US FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE PROJECT THIS SATURDAY!
Earth Day Service Project, Saturday 4/21/12, 8:15am to 1:15pm
The Center for Civic Engagement is hosting an Earth Day service project on Saturday April 21st from 8:15am to 1:15pm!!! Join us for a morning of litter patrol, invasive species removal, and light pruning along a vibrant wetlands habitat. Dunawi Creek features prominently in Starker Arts Park & adjacent Sunset Park (with an interpretive boardwalk), providing opportunities to understand more about wetlands during the course of our community service event. Students will meet in the MU Journey Room at 8:15am to get organized, turn in paperwork, and travel to the service project. The service will last from 9am to about 1pm. CCE will provide transportation to and from the service site. Students will return to campus just after 1pm. CCE will provide some snacks but student participants should plan to bring a sack lunch. Space is limited to the first 40 students who register. Participants will be required to complete liability waivers that will be emailed to you after registration.

The 4th Annual NW Environmental Health Conference
February 10, 2012
The conference hosts leading scientists, researchers, and health professionals in the multidisciplinary field of Environmental Health to continue our robust dialogue on the interrelationship between the environment and health and healthcare practices.
The 2012 conference will focus on environmental chemical contributors to obesity and diabetes and explore how such health disparities may arise, in part, because of different levels of exposures to chemicals of concern.
The 2012 keynote speakers are:
Jerrold Heindel, PhD, an expert on Reproductive & Developmental Toxicology, and the Acting Chief of the Cellular, Organs & Systems Pathobiology Branch of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in Research Triangle, NC
Jose Bravo, the Executive Director for the Just Transition Alliance in Chula Vista, CA
In addition to our keynotes, the conference will include presentations from numerous national and regional environmental health experts, researchers, educators, and advocates.
