Duties: Internships in Scandinavia are posted to www.amscan.org/training.html as soon as ASF receives them from businesses and partner organizations in Scandinavia. ASF expects to start receiving Placement Offers for new internships in February 2003. The Placement Offers may be in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry or Business for 2 to 3 months in the summer in Finland and Sweden. However, Placement Offers may last up to 18 months.

Pay: Salaries are sufficient to meet living expenses. In 2002, the compensation range was $1000 to $1600 per month. Trainees are paid in local currency directly by the trainer.

Position Title: Marketing Intern (MI)
Duties: This is a minimum 9-week internship to be based in Bend, OR. The purpose of the MI position at IdaTech is two-fold. First, and foremost, it is to help educate the intern as to the inner workings of a balanced marketing department. Second, to provide insight to the IdaTech marketing department from the perspective of a student in an up and coming business environment. The intern will be involved in the daily activities of the department as well as numerous assigned projects. The MI should be self-motivated and willing to take the initiative to start a project or aid in the completion.
The MI will be involved in four main aspects of the marketing department.

2) Product Development
3) Marketing Communications
4) Market Research and Government Relations
The MI will be responsible for establishing a classification structure for all internal reporting functions. This will include competitive information, industry data, media planning, sales data, plus various other internal documents for future use at IdaTech.
The MI will also be required to conduct a needs assessment for the current MRP/ERP system and report results as well as any recommended modifications.
The MI will participate in the creation and utilization of internal processes for product development, trade show management, strategic planning and many other marketing related procedures. While at IdaTech, the MI will participate in potential partner/customer tracking, as well as government solicitation tracking. Knowledge of Microsoft Access is significant in order to manage customers/partners/contacts in an existing database.
During the length of the internship, the MI will be required to coordinate one focus group for a preliminary IdaTech product.
Daily and recurring activities may include daily competitor tracking and/or participation in company newsletter content.
Some travel may be required.
Qualifications: Current 2-4 years college completion in marketing program. Outstanding written and verbal skills a must.
Organized, detail oriented, strategic thinker, ability to work in a high-speed team-oriented environment. Energy or environmental industry experience preferable. Proven ability to work and communicate effectively in an entrepreneurial, moderately defined decision-making environment. Irreproachable personal and commercial integrity. Team player with passion, energy, and vision. The MI should also be familiar with the Product Life Cycle and be able to apply to a product in an industry that is moderately defined. Knowledge in market development strategies and pricing strategies a plus.
