Oregon State University Career Fairs
NOTE: Fall Career Fairs registration will be available in July 2008.

The Oregon State University Career Fairs are events sponsored by Career Services each Fall, Winter, and Spring term, held in the CH2M Hill Alumni Center across from Reser Stadium. The Career Fairs are designed to support students in their career development and pursuit of career aspirations. The career fairs provide students with a unique opportunity to talk to recruiters from organizations around the world that have experience in relevant fields of study. For students, attending the Career Fair provides an opportunity to explore career opportunities, obtain employer information, and locate summer jobs, internships, and full-time positions. Employers have the opportunity to promote their organization, to connect with promising candidates for job and internship openings and to network with university staff and faculty as well as other related employers.

Why Attend an Oregon State University Career Fair?

Oregon State University Career Fairs are a GREAT way to connect with some of the best and brightest students around. Oregon State is the only Oregon university to hold the Carnegie Foundation’s prestigious designation reservered for universities with “very high research activity.” OSU is also Oregon’s only land, sea, sun, and space grant university, which means there are mutliple top-notch students from a variety of disciplines. Additionally, OSU programs in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Pharmacy, and a variety of other areas are nationally recognized for high quality, and all OSU undergraduates particpate in the core curriculum emphasizing creative thinking, writing, world cultures, the arts, sicences, diversity, literature, and global awareness, preapring them to become successful professionals in the globlal markeptlace. If you’re looking to meet these students, attending an OSU Career Fair is the way to do so; the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) recently stated:

“Look at any strong employer college relations and recruiting program, and chances are pretty good that career fair attendance will be a component. For more than 10 years, employers responding to NACE's Job Outlook surveys have rated career fairs among the top five most effective methods for recruiting new college graduates. Employers also give high ratings to career fairs as a tool for recruiting intern and co-op students, and as the top method for developing their brand/image on campus.”

Still wondering if an OSU Career Fair is right for you? Listen to what some other employers said at recent career fairs, and then decide for yourself:

“ It is our most valuable recruitment tool at OSU. The fair is always well-organized, well planned, and staff at Career Services are very helpful and approachable.”

“The Career Fair is extremely well organized; a great number of students are coming because of the large number and diversity of employers represented.”

“Great traffic, great lunch, and thanks for drawing our business card for the door prize!”

“The event was well-organized and the OSU staff was very helpful and professional. We received many qualified candidates, and hired several as a result”

About Students at the Career Fair

We are excited you are recruiting at Oregon State University. More and more students are coming to each career fair, and many of these are exploring students, or students who may not currently be looking for a job or internship, but who are attending primarily to ask questions of employers and find out about career paths, companies, and the world of work. If you encounter students such as this at the Career Fair, we encourage you to please spend some time answering their questions. Talking with these students leaves a great impression on them, and is an opportunity for you to promote your organization to possible future interns/employees!
