On-Campus Recruiting
Letter to Recruiters
Dear Recruiters,
Career Services is constantly striving to become more efficient and
responsive in the services we provide to you, our company recruiters,
and to the students we serve. As part of that effort, we have reviewed
the procedure for scheduling recruiting visits at OSU, and have modified
our policy to allow sufficient time to properly set up and promote your
recruiting effort.
Effective with the 2001-2002 academic year (September 1 through
August 31), our policy for arranging campus visits for employers will be
as follows.
Our highest recommendation is to have
companies complete and submit their visit paperwork to us by the
beginning of the term prior to the visit. (Example: Employers wanting to
visit OSU during Fall term (October-December) should be completely
scheduled with us by the beginning of Summer term, July 1.) This will
provide your organization with the most exposure to students who may be
interested in speaking with you on campus.
If your organization is unable to
anticipate your hiring needs 3 months in advance, we will still need a
minimum of 1 month to arrange your recruiting visit to campus. You must
have your visit paperwork completed and submitted to us one calendar
month before your requested visit date. (Example: Employers wanting to
visit campus in November must have their paperwork completed and
submitted by October 1.) This timeline will still provide students with
some time to learn about your organization and to sign up for an
interview.
Below are the dates for the next three recruiting periods.
(Dates are chosen to allow students to sign up for interviews and to
avoid conflicts with student exams and breaks.)

About Recruiting at OSU
We are happy to assist you in recruiting at Oregon State University
the following information should help make your experience pleasant and
successful.
About Our Students
Oregon State University provides diverse educational opportunities
through the undergraduate and graduate programs of its twelve colleges.
OSU is now home to over 18,000 students, representing about ninety
countries and every state in the nation.
About Career Services
Each year, more than 400 employers interview students and alumni in
Career Services. In addition to interview services, Career Services
maintains student and alumni credential files and provides individual
advising on careers. In addition, we present seminars on resume writing,
interviewing techniques, job search strategies, and internships/co-ops,
on campus interviewing and using the Internet in career searches.
Students and alumni review job announcements daily.
Career Fairs
Every year Oregon State University Career Services host two "Career
Fairs", giving you the opportunity to provide students with information
about your organization. These events takes place at the CH2M Hill
Alumni Center on campus. Many students who attend the Fairs are
exploring a career field, others are highly focused and are seeking
specific job opportunities. Contact: Carrie Coplan at 541-737-0529
for information on our Career Fairs or visit our
website. There is a fee for
the Career Fairs.

Information Sessions
An information session is a good way to get your company information
to a large number of students. Information sessions can be set up for
any time and day that you feel would help you the best. Most
organizations set up information sessions the night before their
interviews. This way they may be able to add a few students to their
interviews, and they only need to come to campus once if they are based
outside of Corvallis.
To set up an information session, you need to contact Cheryl Herring
at (541) 737-0523. Cheryl will help you figure out what type of
information session will help you the most, and what dates and times are
appropriate.
Information sessions are held in the OSU Memorial Union or in a
classroom on campus for a minimum fee. If you are requesting equipment to be used
during the information session, there is an additional fee. You may also hold them in the CH2MHill Alumni Center
or the LaSells Stuart Center, however there is a fee for using these
facilities. Other sessions have been held off campus, but we are not
able to set these up for you, you will need to set them up yourself, and
then let us know the details.
