Major Program
You must specify an academic college or the University Exploratory Studies
Program (UESP is for undecided students) when applying for admission. In addition,
you must select a major from the academic program list and put the 3-digit academic
major code from the list on your application.
Please note: Because programs are administered by the college that sponsors them,
admission to OSU does not mean admission to a particular professional college or program.
Students applying to the colleges of Engineering and Pharmacy, for example, should be aware of
the separate application process required for their professional programs.
Advising
When you arrive on campus, you are assigned a faculty member in your major field who
serves as your advisor. Advisors help plan a course of study suited to your academic goals
and are available to help set up schedules each term. Advising continues to be available
throughout your career at OSU.
Registration
A schedule of new-student events will be sent to you before your first term. You are
expected to attend an orientation session during which you will meet the faculty and
staff in your academic college, receive advising, and prepare for registration. Complete
registration instructions, procedures, and deadlines can be found in the Schedule of Classes
distributed by the Registrar's Office. All registration is conducted via the Web.
You cannot register for classes until you are officially admitted
to the University.
