May 28^th – June 2^nd: new OSU students who completed a housing application before February 1, 2013 may select rooms

June 5^th – June 17^th: new OSU students with completed housing applications may select rooms.

4. Attend CONNECT: new student program designed to help you transition into OSU’s community

For those that haven’t paid the Advanced Tuition Deposit (ATD) you can still do so.  The ATD is a $200 deposit if you intend to enroll.   You will need this to sign up for START.

May 1st is the national commitment deadline, until May 1st the ATD is refundable.  The benefit of paying your ATD by May 1st is you will then be allowed to register for a START program.  START is where students will be able to register for their fall term classes, meet with their academic advisor, and many other events to help get them settled before the fall term.  There are several START sessions throughout the summer and below is a link with more information and dates.

“How will my course transfer to OSU?”  This is one of the top questions we receive when working with transfer or concurrent credit high school students and those who have taken advance credits interested in Oregon State University.  For those students who have wondered how courses transfer, but haven’t found the answers yet, you’re in luck!  Keep reading.

OSU has multiple ways to find out quickly if courses taken at a community college, college or university are transferable.  For information on courses from Oregon and Hawaii community colleges that transfer to OSU as baccalaureate core credit (courses that meet general education requirements) please click here to take you to the Baccalaureate Core Course Equivalencies page.  To find information on courses from Oregon colleges and universities that are accepted in transfer, click here.

Haven’t taken any course in the state of Oregon?  There’s a useful method for students coming from a community college, college or university outside the state of Oregon too.  Students can create a worksheet for their educational planning and check individual courses by using the Single Course Search tool.  Please note that not all courses from all community colleges, colleges or universities have been reviewed. Courses not on the list will be reviewed upon your application and acceptance to the university.

For those students taking advance classes such as; Advance Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), General Certificate Education (GCE) or Military credit click here to see how they are credited.  Please be aware that the scores must come directly from the testing agency in order to be accepted.

The above information and links are meant to serve as tools to educate on transferable courses and are completely unofficial.  In order to receive an official articulation, students must first apply and gain admission to OSU, submit the advance tuition deposit (ATD) and register for an orientation session (START).  Advanced standing credit is applied to a student’s record after the student has been admitted to the university and official transcripts or score reports have been received by the Office of Admissions. Please allow 2-4 weeks for credit to be evaluated and appear as part of a students record.

Scholarship Acceptance

If you applied for OSU Scholarships through the admission application and you were selected for a scholarship award, you will be sent a letter of offer. You must respond to this scholarship by May 1, 2012 to secure any scholarship awards prior to the deadline. Scholarship offers cannot be accepted online as the signed letter of offer must be returned. The scholarship letter of offer is not the same as the financial aid award offer which may note the scholarship offer as an estimated form of assistance for the school year.

Financial Aid

If you submitted your FAFSA, you will receive a Financial Aid Award Offer. This letter outlines your financial aid package listing the financial assistance Oregon State can offer to help bridge the gap between your own resources and the cost of attending OSU. Awards are generally based on financial need as determined by the FAFSA. This includes gift aid such as grants, self-help programs like student or parent loans and work-study.

View and accept your Financial Aid Award through OSU’s Student Online Services:

1. Log in using your OSU ID number
2. Go to Financial Aid and select My Award Information
3. Choose Award by Aid Year and select your aid Year
4. Under the far right tab, click Accept Award Offer
5. Make your decisions about the aid you want and hit Submit when done

*Please note: Pell Grants do not require acceptance. Scholarships require submission of the acceptance letter, which is sent separately from the award letter.

Pay the Advance Tuition Deposit

To confirm your intent to enroll at Oregon State University you must submit the Advance Tuition Deposit (ATD) forma long with your $200 deposit. This allows OSU to create your student account and make plans for your arrival. Your $200 deposit can be applied to your tuition or any account balance you may have.

Payment of the ATD is required to participate in the START program, where you will meet with an advisor and register for Fall term. There are two ways to submit the ATD form and payment –complete the form online and pay electronically or print the form and mail in with a check.

Live on Campus

University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS) provides opportunities for student growth and development through educational, cultural, recreational and social programs in living/learning communities. Studies continually show that students who live on campus their first year have a higher average GPA than those that don’t, and these students are more likely to return for their second year on campus.

Students apply to live on campus after being admitted to OSU, and will use their ONID (OSU Network ID) account to complete the application online at http://oregonstate.edu/uhds .

UHDS is proud to offer the Roommate Matching Network^TM to students applying for on-campus housing. This program allows students the option of creating a personal profile and reviewing the compatible interests and habits, you can contact them directly and select to live together. Students can begin using the Roommate matching Network^TM on Dec. 1, 2011. Students who do not select a roommate or who do not find a roommate will be paired using an automated process.

Important Dates for On-Campus Housing:

• May 10-13, 2012: Group Housing Selection for Academic Groups
• May 14: Group Housing Selection for Social Groups
• May 15-17: Open Housing Selection* for new students who applied with UHDS by January 31, 2012
• May 18-24: Open Housing Selection* for students whose applications were submitted by March 31, 2012
• May 25-June 30: Open Housing Selection* for all new students
• July 1-13: Any student with an application who has not selected a room will be assigned using an automated process
• July 31: New Student Housing Contract Cancellation Deadline

*In order to choose your own room during priority housing you must have a roommate (excluding single rooms and cooperative housing).

OSU’s orientation program for new students, START, will begin its first session tomorrow! START is the beginning of a students experience at Oregon State University. START sessions are a time for students to get familiar with campus, register for fall term classes and experience OSU. Families are welcome to attend, however there is an extra fee for family participation. While at START make sure to meet new people, ask questions, enjoy your time and wear comfortable clothing and shoes!
