In a recent report by Farmers Insurance Group has recently ranked Corvallis as the 9^th safest small town, and one of the most secure in the United States. Cities are ranked based on their “crime statistics, weather risks, environmental quality, health and life expectancy, and economic stability.”

Corvallis was ranked as the safest small city in 2007 and 2008, and has consistently ranked in the top 10 safest small towns. ‘Overall, when a place like Corvallis is in the top 10 as long as it has been, it really says a lot,’ says Bert Sperling. ‘It’s just a great place to live.’ Sperling is the developer of the software program that ranks the cities.

Corvallis has been getting a lot of well deserved attention in the media in the past months. The most recent accolade has us feeling pretty proud. Forbes Magazine just ranked Corvallis as the 5th smartest city in America!

It isn’t a secret, we love living in Corvallis and we don’t care who knows it. Nobody has to write about our town to convince us how great it is. Between beautiful green spaces, a great downtown, the laid-back atmosphere and of course OSU we are happy to be here! However, it is always nice to get some national recognition. Of course, if you are faithful reader of the Admissions Blog, you know that Corvallis was ranked #1 in its size category in the list of safest towns in America.
