Washington Monthly has named Oregon State No.87 in the 2014 National Universities Rankings. They ranked schools based on the following categories:
- Social Mobility: recruiting and graduation low-income students
- Research: producing cutting edge scholarship and PhDs
- Service: encouraging students to give something back to their country
The Oregonian highlights Oregon State as as “Oregon’s best big research university:”
Oregon State ranked high for admitting lots of low-income students, giving reasonable financial aid to students from families making less than $75,000 and getting a high proportion of its students to graduate.
Oregon State also has a high number of students who join the Peace Corp or ROTC. Last year, Oregon State had over $285 million dollars in research funding. All of this combined, and much more, make Oregon State one of the top institutions in the U.S. Way to go Beaver Nation!
