During the week of Sunday, September 18th to Sunday, September 25th (the week before the first week of Fall Term classes), new students will be transitioning into the OSU community. New and current students, faculty and staff all take part in this fun-filled week as a great way to kick off the new school year! There are a variety of tours, workshops, open houses, activities and food. You can see a complete schedule of all activities on New Student Programs & Family Outreach CONNECT Week web page.
One of the biggest events that will take place is the New Student Convocation on Tuesday, September 20th at 4pm at Gill Coliseum. Gathering at the Memorial Union at 3:15 pm, students will walk as parents and families watch on with their academic department from the MU to Gill Coliseum the same walk they will make at Commencement mirroring its importance and significance. After the walk and convocation welcoming ceremony, the OSU community is invited to the New Student Picnic from 5:00pm-8:00pm in the MU Quad. Dinner tickets are $7 and can be purchased at an OSU dining center. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact New Student Programs & Family Outreach at 541-737-7627. I participated in Convocation and volunteered at the New Student Picnic last year and it was tons of fun!
OSU has a Multicultural CONNECT schedule of events. Some activities include dinner, workshops, and social events. So whether you are a student or an OSU community member, please join us in welcoming students to campus either as a participant or a volunteer. GO BEAVS!
