Congratulations to the Formula SAE racing team at Oregon State University who recently won the national championship following a competition at the Michigan International Speedway. OSU has become only the third team in the history of the competition to win back to back national championships. The OSU team was the national champion in 2010 and now has received the title again for 2011.
At the competition this year 99 teams competed from around the world. Countries that had teams competing included the United States, Mexico, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Germany, South Korea, Singapore, India, and the United Kingdom.
Formula SAE racing is a student design competition that is organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers. The cars are judged in several areas including cost, acceleration, design, endurance, fuel economy, innovation, and several other components.
