World-Class Auto Racing at Oregon State University

May 16th, 2011

Oregon State University’s Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) motorsport team is made up of 80-plus champions. Currently, OSU is at the top of the world rankings as they enter the first of five competitions this year. Last year the Beavers came out victorious in 2010 and plan to keep their title. In this competition, they are tested not just on their performance on the track, but also various aspects of the team including their business model and vehicle design. OSU is partnered with Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Ravensburg (DHBW-RV), and is the first and only collaboration in the organization.

Last year the team designed and manufactured two identical Formula-One inspired race cars and traveled to compete in Michigan, California, England, Germany, Austria, and Italy. They won three of those races and this included the National Championship in Michigan.
