Time to Visit Campus

March 20th, 2011

I had the opportunity to interview Megan Beresford one of the Program Coordinators for our Campus Visitor Center. I was able to get some insight on how to schedule a campus visit, as well as what to expect from your campus visit at Oregon State University.

How do you schedule a campus visit?

The best way to schedule a campus visit is by registering online at http://oregonstate.edu/visitosu/campus_visit_registration_2.php.

When are campus visits available?

We offer campus visits Monday-Friday all year long. Campus tours are offered at 9am, 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm, while the housing tour is offered at Noon.

What should a visitor expect from a campus visit?

Each guest should expect to go on a tour of campus and a tour of one of our residence halls and dining centers. You will also have the opportunity to speak with an admissions advisor to get all of your admissions related questions answered and possibly even speak with an academic advisor if one is available  from the field of study you are interested in pursuing.

What is an Open House Program?

Open house programs are workshop based which gives the visitor the opportunity to choose a selection of workshops to attend on that day. You are also given the opportunity to go on a tour of campus and a tour of a residence hall and dining center. Open house programs are typically longer than a normal campus visit and serve as a great away to interact with a lot of OSU faculty and students.

When are the next Open House Programs available?

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Friday, April 8th, 2011

Registration for one of these programs is available at http://oregonstate.edu/visitosu/openhouse.html.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to a prospective student visiting campus?

Register for your visit early because the earlier we receive your request to visit campus then the earlier we can schedule appointments for you and get your visit planned with ample time before you come to campus. I also encourage prospective students to come with a list of questions they hope to get answered while on campus.
