OSU Campus Tree Tour

March 1st, 2011

Now available at the Apple App Store is the Oregon State University Campus Tree Tour! This application serves to promote awareness and detailed information about the different trees that makes campus so beautiful. This application works like a map application with maps and directions. Tree tours are organized around themes and allow individuals to access information “on the go.” By using this application you will learn about the type of tree, leaf type, tree bloom, if it is native to Oregon, and a page number to reference the OSU Extension Trees to Know handbook.

There are currently about 5,000 trees on OSU’s campus and we typically plant about 20 to 50 new trees per year. As an institution recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree Campus USA Program, OSU received its second Gold Rating this year by the Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System, a program of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. OSU has a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, celebrates Arbor Day, and has various service learning projects aimed at engaging students.

So if you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch at iOS 4.2.1, download the free OSU Campus Tree Tour and see campus in a new way!
