Over the past year and a half, University Advancement has worked with the campus community in building a new framework, design and architecture for the main homepage (http://oregonstate.edu), as well as the scores of sites and pages directly related to the homepage. On Monday, May 17, we will publicly launch this newly recreated top-tier web presence. As OSU’s front door to many communities, but in particular with prospective students and their families, it receives 1.5 million visitors monthly coming from more than 200 countries.
After user testing and development, a campus-wide project team completed the first phase of the redesign. You will find an updated visual style that models OSU’s brand identity, updated navigation and a host of new features and functionality. The new page has been structured with an added focus on prospective students while also providing enhancements that will benefit all audiences across our community. The new design and messaging is based on OSU’s updated brand guidelines, and is grounded in integrated marketing and communications research that is helping us depict our institution in a contemporary voice and imagery.
The project and advisory group will remain intact, and further updates and enhancements will be made at regular points throughout the year. By adopting this “continuous improvement†model, we will ensure that our front door and top tier pages are always evolving to take advantage of the latest technology and meet the needs of our community.
For a few weeks, we will keep a link to the former site live. This will help you, if you struggle in finding pages you want to bookmark. After a few weeks, the former site will be taken down, and we will make the full transition to the new site.
This has truly been a campus-wide collaboration, and we thank all the units that have been providing feedback, guidance and hard work to help make this transition possible.
