Preview the new OSU Homepage

May 7th, 2010

Should be rolled out in the next couple weeks as they finalize some details.

Nice work by all involved at Web Communications, the Web Steering committee and the implementation team.

new homepage shows proper design planning and looks good. must say the wolf eyes are a very good draw in to the page. good color scheme as well.Nice Job!

  2. Peter says:

It looks really good and professional with easy navigation and search option.

I agree with the other two comments. Seems to have excellent visual appeal, interesting placement of graphic and text elements, does not seem cluttered, and stimulates intellectual curiosity.

The “double T” layout is very effective in placing lots of information on the page, without seeming too crowded. Many times, we’ll use that type of template with sliding tiles within one of the horizontal lanes. This effectively doubles the amount of info that you can get in front of the user within 10 seconds.

@daniel – and I know this is a cliche, but it still remains true to this day: a pair of eyes, an animal or a human face is still the best way to capture someone’s attention. It seems we’re hard-wired this way, regardless of culture. Interesting, no?
