Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of Oregon State University often call the Memorial Union the heart and soul of the university. Recently, it has received top honors and ranked as the number one student union in America, according to the Association of College Unions International survey. In The Barometer:
Students were asked to assess their college unions based on 12 factors, such as the environment, degree to which the union is student-oriented, entertainment, aspects of dining services, bookstore staff and item variety, cleanliness, union staff and the level at which the union enhances life and leadership.
The MU has participated in the EBI-administered survey for the past three years and has always ranked within the top five spots. “We’ve never been number one until this year,” said MUPC President Kate Normandin.
