OSU’s College of Forestry is widely recognized as among the best in the world in forest resources education, research and outreach. Students and scholars come from around the world to pursue degrees and conduct leading-edge research. Their goals: to better understand forest ecosystems, improve reforestation techniques, protect environmental qualities, create new wood-based products and improve virtually every aspect of forest management and conservation. In locations such as the H. J. Andrews Experimental Forest, OSU and U.S. Forest Service researchers are addressing watershed processes, forest-atmosphere interactions and even the cultural motivations that underscore human relationships to forests.

In collaboration with other departments, OSU researchers are leading a biomass project that uses the products of forest thinning activities to create biofuel while creating healthier forests.
