Governor Congratulates Oregon State Baseball Team from Overseas

July 5th, 2006

-From Governer’s Office press release:

(Salem, OR) In a letter to the Oregon State Beaver baseball team and Coach Casey, Governor Kulongoski offered his congratulations to a stellar season and a remarkable win Monday afternoon against North Carolina to secure the College World Series. The Governor expressed his admiration for the great pitching, timely hitting, excellent defense and bold resolve to take their rightful place among Oregon sport heroes.

“I speak for all of Oregon in saying that we could not be more proud of your accomplishment and your character, said Governor Kulongoski. “It was a spectacular ride and not only are Oregonians talking about the Beavers today – but baseball fans across the nation now understand what it means to be a Beaver BELIEVER.

While the Governor was not able to personally thank or congratulate the Beavers at Pioneer Courthouse in Portland on Tuesday because of an official state visit in Korea and Japan, he assured the team that he will have his Beaver baseball hat with him while touring overseas.

“Be assured that just as the 1977 Portland Trail Blazers team galvanized Oregon when it won the NBA Championship, your achievement will inspire an entire generation of young athletes who now know that that they can achieve anything they set their minds to, said Governor Kulongoski.
