The catchy title of this GT article (thanks to Theresa Hogue) is in reference to the Black Poets Society at Oregon State. It is an expressive group that has ebbed and flowed along with the students that have come through the group over the years. The group’s ‘official description goes something like this:
“The Black Poets Society was founded as an expressive forum for African / African-American students at Oregon State University. It has emerged as a multicultural poetry movement independent of the dominant paradgm. We believe the color Black is the symbolic unity of all colors.” There is no web site for the BPS currently, but they can be reached by email.
