Journey Into Leadership.

The Goals of the Journey

"Thus, the task is not so much to see what no one yet has seen, but to think what nobody yet has thought about that which everybody sees."
--Schopenhaur

"Journey Into Leadership is a unique opportunity to begin to think differently, to explore one's own leadership potential, and to engage in the campus community in a new way through a shared experience that focus on one's own self-discovery."

--Sabah Randhawa, Provost and Executive VP, Oregon State University

This leadership series is designed to:

  • Provide a framework for exploring leadership. Through this framework, increase your awareness and ability to "see" leadership. The series is not designed to provide the A, B, Cs or 10 steps of leadership.

  • Provide an intentional, shared leadership experience over a 7-series format.

  • Increase your awareness and understanding of self. Through this insight, gain an appreciation of where your power comes from that enables you to lead from within the position you hold.

  • Identify specific leadership skill areas that you want to improve or develop; and, to set specific goals to achieve these skill areas by the end of the program.

  • Identify a support structure that will enable you to reach and exceed these identified goals for yourself. This includes the utilization of a coach to elevate performance.

  • Engage yourself as an active learner through your commitment to and participation in both traditional and non-traditional learning methods as you explore your effectiveness and ability to lead. Some of the learning experiences are intentionally designed to challenge your comfort zone.

  • Increase your effectiveness to lead as a result of your personal growth without regard to position or title.
