Is the Recommended Appointee an OSU Undergraduate Student?

If you hire an OSU undergraduate student, you should have a conversation with the student in order to explain that the position will take precedence over his/her academic studies. If that is not an acceptable arrangement for the student, you should consider appointing a non-student applicant to the position. Please manage the student’s expectations before offering a job that might interfere with his/her academic studies.

During the application process, applicants are asked to indicate whether they are undergraduate students at OSU or with another institution within the Oregon University System (OUS). The help text associated with that question indicates, “…please note that should you be selected to fill the position for which you are applying, your employee status will take precedence over your academic studies and student status. If that is not an acceptable arrangement, we ask that you reconsider applying for the position.”
