Determining the compensation level for Academic Teaching/Research Faculty, Administrative/Professional Faculty, Clinical Fellows, and Research Associate (Post Doc):
When considering the salary range, identify 2-3 employees within your department/unit (or outside the department/unit) who have similar job duties and responsibilities, then set your salary range to include these annual salary rates. This will help maintain salary equity within your department/unit. You will be asked to create a salary comparator document containing the following information:
- Name of each comparator;
- Title of each comparator;
- If known, how many years each comparator has been in the position you are using for comparison; and
- If the salary range you are requesting differs from the comparators provided, provide justification for the salary range proposed.
Attach the comparator document to the “Supplemental Documentation” page of this action. If appropriate salary comparators cannot be identified within your department/unit, contact your business center HR staff for assistance with salary comparator information.
