Job Category and Compensation Program

You are invited to attend an Open Forum regarding the development of OSU’s Job Category and Compensation Program for Professional Faculty

May 21st  9:30am-11:30am –
Construction and Engineering Hall, LaSells Stewart Center

Earlier this year, I announced that OSU was beginning work on a Job Category and Compensation Program for Professional Faculty positions.  The development of this program is one of the University’s important priorities.

I would like to share with you the progress we have made to date, covering three elements of this project:

  • Establishing OSU’s compensation philosophy and framework for Professional Faculty positions
  • Defining the set of “job families” that capture the work you, and other Professional Faculty, perform and the contribution you make to our organization, and
  • Developing our plan for communicating with you regularly about the process and other key elements to be developed in this Program.

Information about this project, along with updates, can be found in this web site.

Beginning in June, we will ask many of you to complete a questionnaire regarding your work, known as a “Position Description Questionnaire” or “PDQ.” Your input is critical – it will feed directly into the work that is being done on a number of levels.  For example, it will be used to create/revise job descriptions and will be used to assist in benchmarking OSU jobs to determine competitive pay practices among comparable jobs found in the market place.

As indicated, this Open Forum is scheduled for May 21st. We will talk about the work that is being done and will provide further information on the steps and timing of the PDQ process. At that time, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about it and the overall Job Category and Compensation Program.  In anticipation of the Open Forum, and as part of our desire for open communications, I encourage you to submit questions and comments through this project website.

We look forward to discussing the program with you on May 21st.

Becky
