History at OSU

Performance coaching had its start at OSU in 1999 through a series of performance coaching workshops sponsored by InterACTION! and led by Paul Axtell and Cindy Officer, Contextual Program Designs.

Faculty and staff across OSU trained as volunteer coaches under the direction of Axtell and Officer. After acquiring and practicing coaching skills, many are actively coaching or utilizing this skill set in their work.

OSU’s experience was instrumental in spreading performance coaching to LBCC. Beginning in 2004-05, faculty and staff cohorts from OSU and LBCC have been trained and serve as coaches.

This partnership has benefited both institutions to meet specific coaching needs. Occasionally, it is in the best interest of the employee to be coached by a person from the other institution. It has been a positive experience for both LBCC and OSU.
