We invite to you join us for workshops, events, and individual counseling sessions regarding retirement programs offered to OSU employees on the following topics:

In these sessions, Benefits staff will assist you with:

  • Health insurance questions (medical, dental, vision)
  • Optional insurance questions (optional life, disability, long-term care insurance and flexible spending accounts)
  • Enrollment – Online or Paper
  • How to locate benefit information online
  • Retirement/pension plan questions
  • Questions regarding other services (Staff Fee benefit, leaves, etc.)

Fidelity

Offers complimentary confidential consultations and workshops that can help you find the answers to your most important retirement questions; does my retirement portfolio have the right mix of investments, am I saving enough to retire when and how I want, or will I have enough money to last throughout my retirement? This event is intended for those interested in TDIi:tiaa-cref or ORP:tiaa-crefi and their options with TIAA-CREF for the Oregon University System retirement plans.

Medicare Workshop

October 13, 2011, 1pm- 2 pm, Memorial Union, Room 208

Do you have Medicare or do you help a family member with Medicare issues? Learn the ABCs & Ds of Medicare and Medicare Supplemental plans. The workshop is provided by the Oregon Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance program (SHIBA). No preregistration needed.

OPSRP Workshop  is for PERS OPSRP/IAP (Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan) members which were hired on or after August 29, 2003. Topics covered include OPSRP membership details and benefits, retirement eligibility, OPSRP benefit estimate, retirement processes, the Individual Account Program and member resources

1 Year to Retirement is for members within one year of retirement. Topics to be covered are Individual Account Program, retirement eligibility, calculating the retirement benefit, review of benefit estimate, retirement option choices, variable account after retirement, work after retirement limitations, health insurance, cost-of-living adjustments, taxes and review of retirement application forms.

5 Years to Retirement is for members within five years of retirement. Topics covered include Individual Account Program, regular and variable accounts, retirement benefit information and work after retirement limitations.

Oregon Savings Growth Plan Workshops

Wealth Builder describes what the OSGPi is, how it works and why it is a valuable tool to use to accumulate dollars for retirement. The seminar discusses benefits of tax-deferred investing, OSGP investment options and enrollment information.
 
Planning & Investing helps participants calculate long-term savings goals, review the nine investment options, and create personal investment strategies.
 
The Retirement Seminar is for participants within five years of retirement or who have severed employment and includes the catch-up provision, pay-out options, IRS requirements and the impact of new tax laws upon retirees, time frames, and forms completion.

Financial Workshops

Shifting Saving to Spending -- Transitioning to Retirement.

April 25, 2012, 11:30am – 12:30pm, MU Journey Room

Registration is not required, but is recommended.  Drop-ins will be accommodated based on space availability.

Shifting from a saving mindset to a spending one can be difficult.  Learn ways to successfully transition from saving for retirement to spending in retirement and steps you can take to help generate the lifetime income you may need. 

In this workshop you will learn about the importance of asset allocation in retirement, elements for building your investment strategy, and considerations for portfolio withdrawal rates.  Workshop is designed for individuals that plan to retire within the next 1-5 years.  Presented by Fidelity Representative, John Harris.

Health & Wellness

Balancing Work & Family, TBA
In todays busy society, balancing work, life, and family life is a common challenge. The stress this creates can be detrimental to an individuals physical health, emotional well-being, and work productivity. These effects will be discussed as well as strategies and techniques to reduce this unique source of stress. Presenter: Marina Nelson, Cascade Centers.

Coping with Change & Transition TBA
In an organizational culture of constant change, adapting to different circumstances at work, and home can be challenging. Stages of transition and anticipating stressors will be reviewed and discussed. A plan will be developed to help individuals cope and adapt to current change or transition they are experiencing.
