Once you file your FAFSA, either on-line or by paper, you will receive confirmation of receipt of your application from the central processor. They will send you a Student Aid Report or an Information Acknowledgment that will give you a summary of your application, and notify you if there are problems with your information that you will need to resolve.
If you listed OSU on your FAFSA (school code 003210), we will get your financial aid information, and process your file. If we need additional information, our office will contact you.
Once we receive all your correct information and process your file, you will be sent award notification. If you applied on time (before March 1st) then you should receive your award notification in early April.
You will have a chance to review your financial aid package, and accept, reject, or revise your awards.
Once you accept your financial aid package, you will have accepted certain responsibilities:
Notifying the OSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships if your attendance will be less than full-time
Notifying the OSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships if you are receiving any outside scholarships or resources
Satisfying all other conditions of your award
If you have accepted Federal Direct Student Loans for the first time, you will be required to sign a Master Promissory Note. You will also be required to take an Entrance Counseling session on-line and turn your results in to our office.
If you were awarded Work Study, you will receive an email about two weeks before the start of fall term. You will be given a Web site address where you can view jobs, and contact employers.
You will receive an email with instructions on viewing your billing statement online before the term starts. This statement will have your anticipated financial aid credited on your account. The financial aid will be credited to your account a few days before the start of each term.
You can view your account balance online at: oregonstate.edu/students/onlineservices/
If your statement shows that you will have a refund check available, you can pick it up on the first day of classes at the beginning of each term. Any not picked up will be mailed starting the second day of classes.
Remember to check the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship's Web site each month for timely tips, and helpful reminders throughout the school year.
