Rosita Proteau College of Pharmacy

Seth Adams Alumnus ’08 | College of Pharmacy

Taking on a teaching challenge

Like many Pharm.D. students, Seth Adams expected his fourth-year clerkship rotation would have him working in a retail pharmacy. Instead, he got a different challenge: teaching a second-year pharmacy class.

Fortunately, he could draw on the experience of past student teachers, plus his own from taking the class. Rosita Proteau also gave him guidance on his lectures, exams and quizzes, but “it was mostly fine-tuning,” she says. And, Proteau observes, Adams did well in the classroom, asking and answering student questions and explaining complex topics.

Now, Adams has adjusted his career plans. Besides working in a pharmacy, he wants to continue teaching and will teach the same pharmacokinetic class as an adjunct instructor this fall.
