Entomopathogenic nematodes

Entomopathogenic or beneficial nematodes have been used quite successfully for insect management. In Pacific Northwest nursery production they are used primary for suppression of root weevil and fungus gnat larvae. There are several useful sites with information about using nematodes for insect management.

The most resource-packed website concerning the use of entomopathogenic or beneficial nematodes is that of Ohio State
Ohio State's Insect Parasitic Nematode Site. Included at this site is a list of Commercial Sources of Insect Parasitic Nematodes and the very informative workshop proceedings, Optimal Use of Insecticidal Nematodes in Pest Management.

We held a very hands-on workshop in Oregon recently that has practical information particulary concerning application techniques
Proceedings of the Beneficial Nematode Workshop, Sept. 7, 2000. NWREC, Aurora, OR

This work concerns strawberries but can be useful understanding field applications for root weevil control. Please note the importance of debris removal
