Co-curricular Office
At the ELI, we know that learning English means more than just going to classes. Each term we plan a complete schedule of trips, sports events, workshops and parties. There are also informal get-togethers. (Click for current movies and music in Corvallis.)
By participating in these activities, ELI students can meet Americans, practice their English, learn more about Oregon, and become more comfortable living in the United States. Visit the ELI Co-curricular Office anytime to get more information. The Co-curricular Office is in Snell Hall, Room 304.
Trips and Other Activities
Many social and recreational activities are arranged especially for ELI students. Examples include bowling night, movie night, dining out with ELI friends, welcome receptions and the end-of-term party. In addition, the Co-curricular office helps ELI students connect easily with campus-wide events--such as dances, sports and cultural events--and also organizes day trips to places of interest around Oregon. Some examples of past trips include the Oregon coast, downtown Portland, Willamette Pass Ski Area, and Mount Hood.

Workshops
American Survival is a series of weekly, one-hour sessions presented by the Co-curricular Office especially for new students. In these sessions students discuss OSU services, health and safety issues, and American culture. In addition, the Office also offers special workshops on topics like Applying to American Universities.

Conversant Program
ELI students who want to practice English conversation and learn more about American culture can participate in the ELI Conversant Program. The Conversant Program matches ELI students with conversation partners from the university or the community for weekly meetings throughout each term. Conversing pairs often participate in activities together while practicing English. Read more..

The ELI newsletter is published two or three times every term and contains information about activities and cultural events as well as advice on travel, immigration and other matters.
