An Economic Evaluation of Coastal Wetland Preservation versus Development in Korea

ABSTRACT
A strong motivation for coastal wetland development exists with a conventional benefit/cost analysis which hardly consider non-market values of wetland. For an urgent need for a balance between wetland conservation, sustainable utilization and wetland conversion which reflects an appropriate valuation of the multifunctionality of wetland, the papaer is to compare net benefits from coastal wetland preservation with those from wetland conversion to agricultural use in Korea.
