ABSTRACT
This paper analyses the production, consumption, and accessibility of the major farmed fish in five Asian countries (Bangladesh, China, India, Philippines and Vietnam). The specific aspects covered in this paper include: structural changes and role of aquaculture in the economy, aquatic product consumption by species and income groups, marketing and trade of aquaculture products, role of women in aquaculture production and trade, and consumption and access implications of recent development in aquaculture sector.
