Two types of learning groups exist and are called either "content-based" learning groups or "peer learning groups". Groups in each category are listed below their definition:
Advanced Data Warehouse Report Building. A hands-on content-based group designed for current Data Warehouse users to expand their report design abilities. Participants are expected to already be very comfortable creating queries and designing reports using the BI Query Standard option. This group will learn the basics of how to design reports using the BI Query Reports software application, which enables the creation of complex, powerful, and flexible reports. Becoming World Class Customer Service Providers – Utilizing the FISH! Philosophy. The focus of our Customer Service Learning Group is the FISH! Philosophy as we progress into a new academic year. We will study a 12 week activity program designed to help us each discover the richer and more rewarding life that is just a few choices away. FISH! Philosophy is based on four principles that help foster a great life at work. Typically, the group determines a meeting schedule and time during the first group meeting. Leader: Parcella Provence

Environmental Health and Safety presents: Training for laboratory managers – Th is group will meet for one h our long monthly meeting on various topics of interest to those who manage laboratories and train new employees in laboratory skills. Leader: Steve LeBoeuf and EHSC Staff
FIS/HRIS Data Warehouse. A hands-on content-based group designed for current Finance and Human Resources Data Warehouse users to expand their knowledge of how to get the information they need from OSU's FIS and HRIS Data Warehouses. This includes working toward a better understanding of the data available, practice building and modifying queries and reports, tips on using the data warehouse software, and techniques for massaging the data into useful information. The group will determine a meeting schedule and time during the first group meeting. Leader: Patty Ross
MS Access. This group will meet twice a month. One meeting will involve discussion and video. The second will be a computer lab where we will practice skills learned in the video and work on questions from individual databases. We will meet at noon on the first Thursday of each month at the computer lab in the Library (Barnard) and the third Thursday at Kerr for video and discussion. Leader: April Dring
Microsoft Office Learning Group. This group will rotate through the following Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint, and FrontPage. We will learn shortcuts, discuss questions and learn new skills. We will meet the fourth Thursday of each month from 12-1 pm in the Library's Barnard room. Leader: April Dring

Advising Support. The advising learning group will be for anyone who advises students. The purpose of this group is to get a better understanding of resources on the OSU campus and how to utilize these resources in our jobs to the best of our ability. The group welcomes speakers within the University and at times speakers off campus. The group will meet once a month and learn new and improved ways for advising and helping our students get the most out of their OSU experience. Leader: Tjodie Richardson
Recruiting for Diversity. Facing challenges as we build a more diverse faculty and staff at OSU - Join other faculty and staff interested in working to increase the diversity of OSU's workforce. Facilitated by Anne Gillies of the Office of Affirmative Action & Equal Opportunity, this group is for everyone at OSU who seeks greater diversity in hiring. As a group we will determine our learning priorities, which might include discussing the context for OSU hiring, sharing our challenges and strategies in search/recruitment and selection, learning how unconscious biases can hinder our efforts, examining the impact of privileged systems on our hiring and other community goals, and reviewing materials and information from a recent faculty workshop about diversity and inclusion in the faculty search process. Supervision. This peer group will target those who have primary responsibility for supervising employees or want to learn more about supervision. Topics will include in-depth discussion of materials ranging from OSU Core Curriculum – Management and Supervisory training and Hiring Smart; discussion of issues related to the bargaining agreement; performance evaluations, documents and documentation, communications with employees; and options to consider when working with employees. If you have not already attended CORE training, you are encouraged to also attend the upcoming Fall session. Peer groups help you gain new perspectives; learn from each other to build your skills; make contacts for future reference, and build relationships that will last a lifetime.
