Currently I am a faculty research assistant at the Cooperative Institute for Marine Resource Studies (CIMRS) at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR; our group studies pathogens of juvenile Pacific salmon and their impact upon the condition and survival of juveniles in the near-shore northeast Pacific Ocean. I am also pursuing a PhD in the Microbiology Department at OSU, investigating the disease ecology of Renibacterium salmoninarum, which causes bacterial kidney disease (BKD) in susceptible salmonid hosts.
Academic Interests: Pacific salmon ecology, evolutionary and comparitive immunology, disease ecology, intracellular pathogens/immune evasion, behavioral alteration by parasites, science education.
